Feeling The
Picture
Your feeling reactions to a dream are keys to its interpretation. These are my feelings. If this were a scene in your dream or life, how would you feel about being there?
A well worn track leads from a
beautiful, ethereal but natural environment into a light filled mystery. The road seems to
beckon me and the light seems open, promising and inviting. There are no obstacles or
blocks on my path. The scene is slightly hazy, a little out of focus, but the destination
seems clear - albeit unknown. A sense of trust leads me along a path which may seem
unclear, yet it is a path I feel I will inevitably take.
The Symbols
Symbols in your dreams often relate to your personal memories and associations, so always consider those first. Then let your mind play with other, more general possibilities. They will not all apply! Just open your mind and notice where the symbol seems to fit and make sense of the rest of your dream.
The purple colour, unless purple has a personal
meaning to you, generally symbolises the spiritual quest, the 'inner eye' and the
inter-connectedness of all beings and things. The natural world symbolises the natural
self: free from the constraints of the 'civilised' world and the expectations of others
perhaps? The road is whichever journey you are on at the moment, though the colour
indicates that this is a spiritual journey, a natural path, perhaps the journey of your
innermost natural self. The vegetation appears healthy, indicating good personal growth
and development and the light is perhaps the 'enlightenment' ready for you if you take
this most open and trusting path. There is one road only: no decisions to be made, other
than to walk towards enlightenment. Presumably the purple suggests that this is a
spiritual journey, although one could ask why other colours are missing and check that the
rest of the dreamer's life is in good balance.
The Questions
Here are some questions the dreamer of such a dream picture might ask to work towards a complete understanding of the dream.
Try these yourself: just give your 'gut reaction' answers to the questions - your answers will surprise you in the insights they deliver. The key thing to remember is, "Don't THINK about your answers - give quick gut reaction replies". Your unconscious will deliver.
If this process can work powerfully for this image, consider how infinitely more powerful the insights are when the image comes from one of your own dreams - direct from your unconscious!
* What does the colour purple mean to you? What feelings does it
give you?
* Of all the journeys you are taking in your life right now, which seems to fit this
picture?
* Which next step could you take, in your life, to move further along this path?
* What do you feel the light might bring you?
* Think of the other colours of the rainbow and what they each make you feel. Are all
these elements represented in your life right now? Do you feel your life has the right
(colour) balance?
