Subject: FOUND DOG

Ron

00:45 24/09/2002

Several weeks ago my son’s dog became lost in a remote rural area. The dog is a golden retriever, 14 years old, deaf and partially blind. Many hours were spent searching for her without results.

Two nights after the loss I dreamed I was beside a stream of water. There was an object floating in the water that resembled a tabletop or a door. Here, in the dream, I found the dog.

A day later I went to help the search. Having this dream in the back of my mind I told my son that I wanted to search near water. There was a creek about a mile away so that is where we went. After about an hour of walking and calling I glanced to my left and saw a large piece of wood about the size of a door partially submerged in the water. Immediately the dream flashed into my head and I said aloud, “We will find the dog here”.

Within two minutes my son, who was on a hill looking down on me, yelled out, “There she is. Right behind you.” Sure enough, there she was. She had no injuries and was clean.

I told everyone the story but I don’t believe that they believe me. I admit that it is strange but I will swear to anyone, anywhere that it is true. I asked a preacher friend of mine about it. He believes that this type of happening is called Precognition, which was the act of an angel passing the information along to me. I do know and love the dog. What do you think?

Overview Interpretation & Dream Alchemy Practice suggestion

OVERVIEW INTERPRETATION

Hi Ron,

As you didn’t write the dream down or tell anyone the details beforehand you have no way of proving to others that the details in your dream helped direct your search and find your son’s dog in circumstances that matched the dream. Only you know the accuracy of the dream.

The word precognition means, according to the Concise Oxford Dictionary, “(supposed) foreknowledge, especially of a supernatural kind”.

I use the term ‘precognitive dreaming’ to describe dreams that contain details of future events that are accurate literally or symbolically. The literal ones are the most persuasive, but they really need to be written or recorded in some way prior to the event to provide the kind of proof others will accept.

I record my dreams. A number are precognitive. My personal experiences led me to research this subject for three years. I included a survey of the experiences of other precognitive dreamers and designed and underwent a series of experiments in which I was hypnotised into my personal future. I presented the results in a book, The Shape of Things to Come, (Random House), which you might be interested to read.

My experience and research has led me to believe that precognitive dreams provide the same level of personal insight, when analysed, as non-precognitive dreams. I look at all my dreams from an analytical point of view to see how they inform me about how I perceive the world and why.

My understanding is that we experience precognitive dreams when we resonate at some level (symbolically or emotionally) with the event or with the people involved in the future event. There is always a connection at some level. Even if the precognition involves a stranger, or someone you feel you are not strongly related to, there is always a connection when you look more deeply.

Telepathic dreams are dreams that include details of events or the thoughts of others that are happening at the same time as the dream or very close to the time of the dream.

Some events are hard to pinpoint in time. In your case, Ron, was your dream precognitive because you encountered the dream scenario after the dream, or was it telepathic because the dog was already dead and laying in that scenario – even though you only saw it later?

When you begin to examine the time elements in precognitive and telepathic dreaming, the differences between the two start to blur, as they do in your circumstance. When I was researching to write The Shape of Things to Come this realisation drew me into a closer analysis of the nature of time and our perception of time in dreams and in waking life. This is described in detail in the book.

DREAM ALCHEMY PRACTICE

Rather than suggest a dream alchemy practice for this dream, Ron, I suggest you start to record your dreams. Next time you experience precognition you’ll be able to compare details and show the evidence to other people.

I also encourage you to analyse your dreams, being guided by the 500 examples in this Dream Index.

You can record your dreams in writing, on a tape recorder, in drawings or you may wish to use our personal computerised dream journal. (For details of the personal computerised dream journal click on the yellow link on the black side panel on this page.)

Hello Ron, it does happen. I haven't had any precognition dreams of late, but have had them before.

Mine are sometimes a warning, although I have been known to misread them. I have also dreamed of lotto numbers, but sad to say, not the whole lot, just a few of the numbers. Still hoping on this one.

Hi Ron,

What a wonderful dream! I believe that what happened is this. You had a strong desire to find the dog and most likely the thought of finding the dog was very much on your mind as you fell asleep at night.

Have you ever noticed that your dreams are sometimes a clear response to what is on your mind during the day? Many creative people, including scientists have, as a direct result of a dream, made a huge breakthrough or discovery. While you are asleep, the mind gets to work on the problems of the day and tries to solve them, or provide answers.

So your dream raises a couple of questions - Did you dream travel into the future where you were finding the dog, and when you woke up the dream enabled you to do exactly that?.

Or did your awareness go to the dog during the night and discover where it was in actuality?

I recommend that You read Jane Teresa's book "The Shape of Things to Come". It offers powerful insights into the nature of reality, and precognition. This dream shows that you a ready to expand your understanding. This book is the ANSWER. Go for it!
