I'm in France and going on a day trip. I try to catch a bus to the train station.
There's confusion over which bus to take. I'm waiting with 2 friends (a couple). The girl and I find a bus that will stop at the station but it's not the special train station bus.
Suddenly the guy calls out that the right bus has arrived. We go over. They get on first then I get on. I don't seem to have to buy a ticket. I say I'm with them, supposing the guy bought three tickets.
There's no driver or official looking bus ticket person, just some girls in street clothes but they are bus people.
The couple have gone to the back of the bus which turns out to be the front. The driver's sitting up there. There's quite a spacious seat next to the driver, right up near the windscreen. The couple sit there first but move to a slightly bigger seat behind the driver.
So, I sit next to the driver. I think it's a better seat because there are good views on two sides.
My daypack is heavy but I'm not sure why. I think I might have a big book in there and my camera. The guy says he doesn't have his. I say I wish I hadn't brought it. He says he wished he'd brought his as it's a good idea. I say that I guess if I buy something I can put it in it.
I open a new packet of lifesavers (lollies). I take one and offer them one. I notice the next one is orange. I'd like that one but know they'll get it, but that's ok. They both grab one at the same time and the orange one falls on the guy's shirt or lap. They get the next 2 and put the orange one back. So, I can have it after all.
I'm in a hotel room with my female friend. I wash my hair in the morning and go sit on the balcony.
I'm soooooo happy I'm in France. I try to soak it up and remember it all because I'll have to leave and go home soon. But, I really want to stay in France.
I notice there's a river with benches and tables along side it. And cafes. People who sit right next to the river are asked to move by security or police. They're too close and might fall in if a boat comes along or pulls in there.
I think: BUT WHY DID THEY PUT SEATS THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Some people jump in the water and swim to the shops on the other side. They are going to help someone. A woman at the bakery, where I am now, offers large buns with cherries and liquorice to anyone who helps. I say no. I don't like cherries (I don't think the buns would be nice).
I joke, "How will I get the bun home? If I put it in my suitcase it will be like this!!" (I indicate with my hands that it will be squashed and thin).
