My Uncle called me and left a message on my answering machine. He said that I only ate what other people told me to eat. I was upset at this remark because I was sure that it wasn't true. When I saw my Uncle next, I said to him, "Have you ever seen somebody telling me what to eat?" He said that he hadn't.

Later I was playing with my cousin. I guess it was hide and seek or something. There was some sort of misunderstanding and she called the police. I obviously thought that I had done something wrong because I hid from the police.

When I got back home, there were some teenage boys who were having a party. One of them told me that I shouldn't go away without telling anybody.

Then there was another party, like a tailgate party. I was in the back of a black pick-up truck and I saw an older woman whom I knew was my other self. I took a gun and shot her in the head because I thought I had too many selves.

Hi Shalie21,

'Too many selves and time to put an end to this' was your dream conclusion.

One angle is that you have too many different masks you wear - different 'selves' to present to different people to please them, or to act according to how you think they want you to be.

This is probably reflected in the sentence your uncle spoke in your dream, "You only eat what other people tell you to eat." You ask him if he's ever seen this, and he says no. So you conclude, perhaps correctly, in your dream, that when you wear these masks, it is not really to please others at all, but to please the part of yourself that believes in pleasing others.... your 'other self', the pleaser.

Now - the point of replying to you today, is that you have brought up the subject of the various aspects of ourselves - the 'other selves', and:

I am in the middle of writing the new Dream Sight article which will be sent out to all subscribers tomorrow. (Subscription is free.) The subject concerns another way to look at this business of 'other selves' - a much simpler and easier-to-deal-with way of looking at the other people in our dreams and a new and easier angle on 'other selves'.

So - stand by - and then I'm sure people will reply here to help you apply the new tools from the article.

We have been discussing this subject for a couple of days over in the Members' Community Forum, so the input, creation and testing has been great!

Shalie21 One thing I would like to ask is how did you feel after you shot your "other self" Was it liberating or not?

Also, when playing hide and seek with your cousin.....did you find that a little like hiding from yourself only to find that eventually you confused yourself so the police got called in. I say this only because this is a theme that I often have, and I have found that if I try and remember where I was hiding, there is usually a clue as to what Iam hiding or why I am trying to hide. As Jane has said, this dream is obviously about the many selves that you beleive exist together, but no longer are existing harmoniously....one thing I have learnt is that if you listen to the dream and remember that feeling you had when you killed your otherself...the one you no longer needed......you can use that feeling in waking life to help you do the same thing.

I hope this helps# Chris
