My boyfriend and I were driving some place, I don't know where. I was behind the wheel. All was going well until we got pulled over by the police. We were asked to step out of the vehicle and told we were missing a wheel! (The car was going just fine.)

My boyfriend comforted me by resting his hands on my shoulder. They were going to let us off with a warning and offered to help with fitting the spare tyre in the missing tyre’s space. But it turned out the spare wheel was square! So we got taken to the police station and locked up for the night!

Overview Interpretation & Dream Alchemy Practice suggestion

OVERVIEW INTERPRETATION

Hi Mandy,

Your dream featured circular wheels and square wheels. Circles and squares often represent your right and left-brain approaches to a situation, in this way:

The right-brain (Yin) tends to solve problems from a holistic point of view, looking at the whole, rounded picture rather than at its individual parts. The holistic view can be insightful, as the whole entity is often something far greater than merely the sum of its parts. A circle or round shape often symbolises wholeness and completion.

In contrast the left-brain (Yang) tends to solve problems from an analytical point of view, focussing on the parts that make up the whole and not seeing the big picture. This is often symbolised by a square shape, as if a square is a kind of straight lined circle, getting the rough idea but not quite getting the whole picture right. The left-brain thinks in straight analytical, rational lines, whereas the right-brain thinks in curvy, lateral ways.

Ideally a problem is best solved using a balance of both approaches, but most of us tend to favour one approach over the other. Dreams can warn, just as your dream police did, of imbalance.

As your dream shows, you were unaware that there was anything wrong. You were making good progress in your journey. The journey may be your relationship, your career, your personal life, your spiritual path or any other area of your life where you feel everything is going along reasonably well. Except that something is missing, isn’t it? What might the missing wheel represent?

As you were driving the car, this dream may be focussing on your drive and motivation. Again, all appears to be well, but your dream points out that you are unaware that something is missing. Would your ignorance or denial of the missing factor have safeguarded your journey (would your belief in the existence of the fourth wheel have supported you) or would you have eventually broken down?

Your dream warns of the imbalance: add more right brain/Yin to support your journey.

Your dream then shows that this is a problem for you. Your spare wheel is square, of the left-brain, Yang type. The spare wheel is the back up, to be used in an emergency situation to save the day. When you think about your life, your journey or your drive, what is your back up? For example, if you are taking a financial risk on running a new business, what is your back up plan? Is it too square, too left-brain, too Yang to be of any use? Does it lock you up, restrict your progress, in the same way that you were locked up at the end of your dream? What or who is your back-up and is it too left-brain an approach to get you to where you want to be?

Your dream suggests that you could do with a more holistic approach and that you may restrict your progress by falling back on straight-line thinking.

DREAM ALCHEMY PRACTICE

Affirmation:

Here’s an affirmation using your dream symbols:

“I drive with ease. All four wheels perfectly support and cushion my journey and my round spare wheel blesses me with perfect freedom.”

How to use your affirmation/ and how often:

Say your affirmation out loud and with feeling 30 times a day for the first week. From the second week say your affirmation out loud and with feeling once in the morning and once before you go to sleep for three more weeks.

How does this work?

This works by communicating directly with your unconscious mind using its own language, to transform the belief your dream is revealing.

Hi Mandy,

What do police represent for you?

Whatever that is could that be about to stop you in your tracks or is it stopping you in anyway from anything you want to do?

What is the something you are currently missing even though you believe all is well?

The phrase "feeling like a sqare peg in a round hole" came to mind - ring any bells?

Being locked up for me anyway would mean that something I had done/was doing was comprimising me causing me to lose my freedom.

Hope that helps.
