Subject: Green VW car

Anne

07:51 21/08/2001

I’m in a car going down a hill. There is a dusky green older type VW car sitting half way down the hill on the right hand side. Opposite the VW, on the other side of road, is a policeman, maybe with a radar gun. The car I'm in seems about to drive straight through.

It is a fairly wide road and appears to be clay coloured on each side. It is a made road with drains both sides, typical of a rural road in Australia. The road is something like a very wide firebreak, with trees a fair bit off both sides of the road.

Later on the car I'm in approaches the VW. I see handwriting all over the VW. I am in the passenger seat and my driver turns in front of the VW, although there's no road going off.

My driver seems to misjudge the distance. We are getting closer and closer to the VW and we are about to just hit it mid front, when I awake.

Hi Anne

I tend to think of going down hill as having the potential to go too fast/get out of control. As you are the passenger, is someone else driving your life, and you are not comfortable about not being in control/they are driving you too quickly for your comfort?

A VW reminds me of the nickname "beetle", in computer jargon a fault in the programing - not the right route?. Or maybe the old VW the old way/journey which has been abandoned/parked. The old style - not particularly fast or exciting The policeman with a radar gun - wanting to keep things within acceptable limits?

To me wide roads give me a greater feeling of safety than narrow ones, in spite of greater speed.

About to collide - is there a clash within you about the 2 journeys, as the driver seems to misjudge the distance - not condident that the journey is under control, especially as there's no road - the journey going nowhere. As the VW was on the RH side, it would be facing in the opposite direction and lead to a head on crash/head to head clash.

Isn't green supposed to be potential for growth/healing/positive change?

Hope that is of some help

John

Thank you for your response John. That dream was only a few days after I told I needed an operation on my knee, & I wasn't allowed to drive for at least 2 weeks. Otherwise I always drive myself. The car I was in didn't seem to be travelling very fast.

I am a carer for an elderly Aunt, who doesn't live with me, & I know this is holding me back, & therefore as you said 'driving my life' or partially doing so. For some reason, I presumed that the VW was the policeman's car. I still can't reason why there was handwriting all over the VW, especially that I didn't see in the 1st dream or part of the dream.

Hi Anne and John,

Don't know why but the expression "the writing is on the wall" is coming into my mind.

From the view I have via my work knees, legs etc. are associated with forward movement/progress. Hands (i.e. the hand writing) with giving/receiving. Writing - self expression.

No doubt some clues would be in what the writing said and perhaps a clue also lies in the not seeing and then clearly seeing of it.

Nice work John.

Oh and there is also another expression which appears in your dream "going down hill" as in drive and motivation is going down hill.

The fact that there is a "fire break" could be indicating that it is time to take a break from a situation that is getting to be out of control.

Thanks for your input Star. Oh dear, how I could take a break from all the physical pain I'm having at the moment. With a shoulder that is giving me so much 'curry' & the same wrist going into 'Carpal Tunnel' syndrome, oh how I wish.

I didn't see what the writing was, just that it was there. Seemed to be little sentences of a couple or 3 or 4 words, but higglety pigglety off over the bonnet, at least, but think it might have been on the side as well. Not sure about the roof, but maybe. If it's any help the colour was light dusky green, can't explain it any better than that.

This was a weird dream for me. Maybe I should try to bring the dream back, haven't suceeded in doing this as yet, to any other dream. Makes me think that something is trying to get my attention, with the double dreams.

Just remembered, went for my driver's licence in a VW, because it had floor gears, but not that colou. I have never driven a VW or similar car since, mostly truck or truck type (4WD) vehicles.

Could the VW represent your old motivation and drive at that time which you have abandoned???

Pain, illness and dis-ease in any part of a body, for me, is a blockage of energy usually associated with a subconsciously held belief, emotion, thought, etc.

Shoulders symbolise burdens. In order to find the subconscious clutter and change our conditioned re-actions, beliefs, thoughts, etc. this is where understanding the symbology of our dreams comes in.

Now I know why I got "the writing is on the wall". You are saying how much you dearly want to take a break and that you are wishing you could. To me you seem to be burdened by your elderley relative and no doubt you could do with a break from that situation, yeah?

My sense is that whatever the subconscious clutter is it is stopping your forward movement, i.e. the problem with your knee, and whilst it most certainly wouldn't be the kind of break I would think you or most would like to take no doubt you will get a break and some nurturing for yourself when you go and get your knee operated on, no?

Usually when I see a police car, radar gun, bla bla I naturally slow down. I get the sense that this dream may be telling you that it is definitely time to slow down, and take a break. You can quite obviously make up a million excuses as to why you can't do that but it is you, no-one else who is suffering because you don't, choice is yours. I think I would rather slow down and take a break than be operated on personally.

Am also wondering if there is any kind of community service group you can contact that could come in and assist your relative even just 1 day a week so you do get a break??

Can't imagine that if you do have the operation that it, combined with your pain full shoulder and wrist will see you in much of a state to care for this person anyway and who is going to care for them whilst you are in hospital??

Star.

Thank you for your thoughts Star.

The lady doesn't live with me, but do have to care for her & she doesn't like or trust other people. She had home help, meals on wheels, visiting nurse, but she sacked the lot, didn't want them in HER house. A three month break would be great, so I could get away & visit friends & other relatives in another State.

The pain comes from calcification in the shoulder joint, but know what you mean, maybe I should be into Chinese massage. The wrist probably comes from too much typing on the pc.

I have slowed down enormously in the last few years, maybe too much for my own good. At least if I'm dreaming about strange things (for me), I'm not dreaming of fires.

Perhaps it may be time Anne for you to take control of the situation with this woman and just tell her you need a break and that you are happy to organise some help for her whilst you have it.

If you keeled over tomorrow and died, or were hit by a bus she'd have to make other arrangements whether she liked it or not. Sometimes we have to be tough and do what it right for us, otherwise we just land up resenting the other person. We cannot give to others what we do not give to ourselves, yeah?

Just a suggestion but I do believe that whilst massage would no doubt be of some relief a few sessions of accupuncture may just loosen up that shoulder. Whatever form of modality you choose to use as it loosens up no doubt dreams will come as well which will pin point the subconscious clutter your body is hanging onto.

Jane Teresa mentions fires in The Shape of Things to come as a possible symbol for burnout and perhaps that is what all those fire dreams have been warning you about.

Take Care of YOU!!!

With love, Star.
