Subject: Sexual Dream

Mike

I was having sex with a good friend on a table when two other male friends arrived and it became an orgy. There was a long queue of mainly females but a few males. I knew none of these people. There was a big red wall in the dream in front of the table.

Hi Mike - sounds like a rather interesting and pleasurable experience :)

Sexual dreams for me are about fully integrating within myself whatever the other person - male or female symbolises to me.

Dreams of masturbation for me are all about giving myself more pleasure in my life.

Red speaks to me of base chakra stuff, passion, grounding, anger, primal instincts -which sex certainly is, red is also the colour of our blood, life force in a sense that keeps us pumping so to speak.

Walls always speak to me of barriers I have put up.

So I guess I would ask myself in relation to this dream are there any sexual barriers from the past that I have put up that are stopping me from experiencing more pleasure in my life.

Hope that gets you started.

Overview Interpretation & Dream Alchemy Practice suggestion

OVERVIEW INTERPRETATION

Hi Mike,

Sexual dreams are very common. They may be triggered by sexual drive (hormones) and they may be entirely symbolic, but even in the first circumstance it’s interesting to note how the dream creates different scenarios.

You mention a big red wall, which suggests a wall or block of some kind. Could red be stop or danger or passionate energy?

When you dream of having sex with someone you know in waking life the dream often reflects the dreamer uniting with – not the person but – what they represent. Suppose you are having enjoyable sex with Mary and Mary is someone you see as a very creative person: in this case your dream may reflect a readiness to integrate that kind of creativity into your own life. If the sex is not so enjoyable, have a think about what that person represents and what your dream may be reflecting about your hesitation in integrating with those qualities.

The above is a very simplistic view, for a deeper understanding you will find it helpful to read ‘I had sex with …’ in Dream Alchemy, pages 115-21.

DREAM ALCHEMY PRACTICE

What might the red wall mean? Here’s a dream alchemy practice to find out:

Gut reaction poetry:

The title of your free-form poem is ‘Red Wall’. Keep it going for 5 - 10 minutes. (See how to do this in next section.)

How to do this:

Take a blank piece of paper and a pen. Set a timer for somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. Do not allow yourself to think! Start by writing the title as your first line and just let it flow. Keep on writing even if your poem seems childish or nonsensical. No rhyming or verses unless it comes out that way! The only definition of ‘poetry’ here is that you’re not writing sentences and you’re not using up all the space on your lines. Let your words find their own shape on the page.

How does this work?

By not thinking, by keeping the words flowing, you are letting your right brain and unconscious mind do most of the work. They created the original dream so they know what these symbols mean for you. They will reveal. You will be surprised.
